09:20 AM EST, 03/07/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Natural gas prices fell for a second day early on Friday as milder spring weather lowers heating demand while a day-prior inventory report showed storage fell less than expected last week.
Gas for April delivery was last seen down US$0.14 to US$4.17 per million British thermal units.
In its weekly report released Thursday, the Energy Information Administration said U.S inventories fell by a less than expected 80-billion cubic feet last week, leaving inventories at 1.76-trillion cubic feet, 11.3% under the five-year average.
The "EIA weekly storage report missed solidly bearish with a draw of only -80 Bcf versus expectations of -92-94 Bcf. One reason it missed bearish could be solar energy generation was quite strong last week and much stronger year over year as additional capacity has come on-line", NatGasWeather reported.
Long-term forecasts from the National Weather Service sees all states east of the Rocky Mountains with warmer than seasonal temperatures over the six to 10 day outlook, further easing cooling demand.
