09:26 AM EDT, 09/23/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Natural gas prices edged lower early Tuesday, falling for a fourth session on weak autumn demand even as forecasts continue to see above seasonal temperatures continuing for all states.
Gas for October delivery was last seen down US$0.01 to $2.79 per million British thermal units, the lowest since Aug. 26.
The drop comes as mild fall weather cuts into cooling demand, though long-term forecasts from the National Weather Service see all states with warmer than seasonal weather over the next six to 14 days. However temperatures are likely to be well below mid-summer heat outside of southern states, offering little additional demand.
"Natural gas continued to slide lower yesterday as forecasts trimmed some of the heat out of the early October window ... Production numbers are reporting slightly lower this morning so that should help stem the slide, helped by a bit more power sector demand for gas as the heat in the south continues," Gary Cunningham, director of market research at Tradition Energy, said.
