09:21 AM EDT, 08/20/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Natural gas fell to a fresh nine-month low early on Wednesday as forecasts expect a cooler end to August, cutting into demand.
Gas for September delivery was last seen down US$0.02 to US$2.75 per million British thermal units, the lowest since Nov. 8.
The drop comes as long-term forecasts from the National Weather Service see nearly all states with seasonal or cooler temperatures in its six to 14-day outlook, with the big markets of the Upper Midwest and Great Lake states expected to be much cooler than usual over the period.
Lower cooling demand is likely to send additional supply to already swollen inventories of the fuel stored for winter use. The Energy Information Administration last week pegged inventories at 3.19-trillion cubic feet, 6.6% higher than the five-year average.
