09:24 AM EDT, 06/13/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Natural gas prices rose early on Friday as forecasts see hotter weather on the way for most states, which would boost cooling demand.
Gas for July delivery was last seen up US$0.05 to US$3.53 per million British thermal units.
The rise comes as forecasts from the National Weather Service see nearly all states with hotter than seasonal weather over its six to 10 day outlook, with much warmer than usual temperatures expected for East Coast and Midwest states.
The rise also follows on Thursday's storage report from the Energy Information Administration. The agency said U.S. inventories of the fuel rose 109-billion cubic feet, near expectations. The injection left stocks at 2.71-trillion cubic feet, 5.4% above the five-year average but 8.6% under 2024 storage levels.
