09:21 AM EST, 02/17/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Natural gas futures fell to a four-month low early Tuesday as long-term forecasts see mild weather on the way for most states, cutting into heating demand for the fuel.
Gas for March delivery was last seen down US$0.17 to US$3.08 per million British thermal units, the lowest since Oct. 17.
Prices dropped to the lowest this winter as long-term forecasts from the National Weather Service see nearly all states east of the Rocky Mountains with seasonal or warmer temperatures over the next six to 14 days, cutting into demand.
Still, depleted inventories may offer some price support. The Energy Information Administration last week said inventories of the fuel stood at 2.21-trillion cubic feet, 5.5% below the five-year average.
