Three analysts polled by FactSet expected 0.17 pound.

Total income for the quarter ended Sept. 30, expressed as the sum of net interest income and noninterest income, was 4.33 billion pounds, up from 3.74 billion pounds a year earlier.

Four analysts surveyed by FactSet expected 4.11 billion pounds.

The company's shares were up more than 4% in recent Friday premarket activity.
