07:27 AM EDT, 07/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The National Basketball Association is finalizing broadcasting contracts for the next 11 seasons with ESPN ( DIS ), NBC and Amazon ( AMZN ) that are expected to be worth a total of about $76 billion, media outlets reported Thursday, citing unnamed sources.
The contracts will become effective in the 2025 to 2026 season, according to the reports. Games will continue being aired on ESPN ( DIS ) and ABC, and the other deals would allow some games to be aired on NBC and Amazon Prime.
Walt Disney ( DIS ) , the parent company of ESPN ( DIS ) and ABC, will now pay $2.6 billion annually under the new contract, compared with the $1.4 billion under its current contract, the reports said.
Meanwhile, Comcast's ( CMCSA ) NBC will pay $2.5 billion per year and Amazon ( AMZN ) will pay $1.8 billion, according to the reports.
The NBA and the three media partners have agreed to the contracts but have not yet signed, The Athletic reported.
The deals will move to the NBA board of governors for approval. After that, TNT Sports, which has been a longtime host network of the NBA, has five days to match one of the deals, according to the reports.
The media companies and the NBA did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
