March 11 (Reuters) - Streaming giant Netflix ( NFLX )
will pay as much as $600 million for Ben Affleck's artificial
intelligence filmmaking company InterPositive, Bloomberg News
reported on Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
* The actual price, paid in cash, was less, the report said.
InterPositive's owners are set to earn even more if it meets
certain performance targets.
* The deal, announced last week, signals Hollywood is
warming up to the idea of using AI to create content. Netflix ( NFLX )
did not disclose financial terms of the deal at the time.
* Netflix ( NFLX ) did not immediately respond to a Reuters request
for comment.
* InterPositive is Netflix's ( NFLX ) first acquisition since walking
away from the bidding war for Warner Bros Discovery ( WBD )
after Paramount Skydance's ( PSKY ) offer was deemed superior.
* Oscar-winning actor and director Affleck founded
InterPositive in 2022, using AI to maintain cinematic logic and
fix production issues like lighting errors or missing shots.
