07:16 AM EST, 11/10/2025 (MT Newswires) -- First Nation LP, NYSE-listed Newmont , and Orla Mining ( ORLA ) announced Monday that they have established a $6.6 million education, training, and skills development fund, to be administered by Opiikapawiin Services, a service organization 100% owned by 24 First Nations.
The companies said the investment of $6.6 million will be contributed over a 10-year period and will support members of the 24 First Nations in Northwestern Ontario with opportunities to advance their skills, careers, and cultural practices. Orla Mining ( ORLA ) is the owner and operator of the Musselwhite Mine located in Northwestern Ontario.
"This initiative builds on a longstanding partnership between FNLP and Musselwhite mine, previously owned by Newmont (formerly Goldcorp), and now by Orla," the companies said in a statement. "Rather than seeking payment on the promissory note set up for pre-development costs in the project, Newmont and Orla agreed to direct the funds back into the region through a new charitable organization."
U.S.-listed shares of Orla were last seen up 5.4% at $10.48 and shares of Newmont were last seen up 3.4% at $86.22, in pre-market trading.
