'Organised chaos' if crude oil tops $100 per barrel: Oil minister Hardeep Puri

Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri has said India will be able to manage oil prices above $100 per barrel, but it could lead to "organised chaos". Puri was speaking at the ADIPEC oil and gas conference in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on Tuesday, October 3, and ahead of a crucial OPEC meeting in Vienna on Wednesday, October 4, to discuss the current market dynamics. The cartel is expected to continue its existing output policy.

Sikkim flash floods: What triggered it and what are the worst affected areas

At least 14 people died and 102 others, including 22 army personnel, went missing on Wednesday after a cloudburst over Lhonak Lake in North Sikkim triggered a flash flood in the Teesta river basin, officials said. "14 people are dead, 102 are missing and 26 are injured in the flash floods in Sikkim," the Sikkim government said on Thursday.

The main districts affected due to flash floods in Sikkim include Mangan, Gangtok, Pakyong and Namchi. In West Bengal, torrential rain in the last few days, besides an increase in the water level in the Teesta river, affected several places in Kalimpong, Darjeeling, Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri districts, news agency PTI reported.
