10:20 AM EDT, 09/03/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Newsmax ( NMAX ) unit Newsmax Broadcasting filed a federal antitrust lawsuit against Fox (FOX) and Fox News Network in the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
The complaints alleges that Fox abused its market dominance by coercing distributors into unfair carriage agreements that exclude or marginalize competitors, Newsmax ( NMAX ) said Wednesday in a statement.
The tactics included no-carry provisions, financial penalties tied to carrying Fox's other channels and confidential clauses that limit Newsmax's ( NMAX ) placement on basic packages, the complaint alleged.
Newsmax ( NMAX ) claimed these practices resulted in faced inflated carriage fees, reduced consumer choice and delayed growth, costing "hundreds of millions" in lost fees and advertising revenue.
Fox did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
Newsmax ( NMAX ) shares rose 1.3% in recent Wednesday trading, and Fox fell 0.2%.
