04:59 AM EDT, 05/14/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Nexa Resources ( NEXA ) has temporarily suspended operations at the Cajamarquilla smelter in Peru following a fire incident, the company said late Wednesday.

The incident caused damage to parts of the smelter infrastructure, while four people sustained injuries, though there were no fatalities, according to the company.

Nexa, which is assessing the timeline for resuming operations, does not anticipate a "material impact" from the incident, it said.
