11:59 AM EDT, 09/23/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Nexstar Media Group ( NXST ) said Tuesday that its television stations and partners affiliated with Walt Disney's ( DIS ) ABC Television Network will not air the "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" show as it returns to ABC.

Nexstar decided to preempt the show last week after ABC referred to Kimmel's "ill-timed and insensitive" comments regarding the recent killing of Charlie Kirk, according to a statement.

The owner of broadcast TV stations said it will uphold its decision until all parties are committed to promoting an "environment of respective, constructive dialogue."

Nexstar said its stations will instead show local news and other programming relevant to their respective markets.

Nexstar shares were up 1.1% in recent trading.
