NFI Group Subsidiary Secures Contract to Supply Busses to Houston and Surrounding Area
Dec 9, 2024 6:08 AM

08:51 AM EST, 12/09/2024 (MT Newswires) -- NFI Group ( NFYEF ) , an independent bus and coach manufacturer, said on Monday that its subsidiary Motor Coach Industries (MCI) won a new contract to supply the Metro Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO).

METRO provides transit services to most of Harris County, including the city of Houston and 14 surrounding cities.

The contract includes the purchase of 100 MCI D45 CRT high-floor coaches. The initial purchase for the contract included 50 firm coaches and 50 options. METRO exercised the option for 50 more coaches in November, bringing the total firm quantity to 100 coaches.

According to NFI, MCI's D-Series coach models are known as the "workhorses of the transit industry" with rugged stainless-steel frames and modern styling packages.

NFI said the coaches will be used for METRO's Park & Ride service routes.

"NFI and our subsidiaries have been working with METRO for over 30 years, and MCI previously delivered over 500 coaches to METRO," said Chris Stoddart, president of NFI's North American Bus and Coach segment. "MCI coaches are designed to balance reliability and innovation while always maintaining a focus on the passenger experience."
