08:37 AM EST, 02/26/2025 (MT Newswires) -- NFI Group ( NFYEF ) said Wednesday that subsidiary New Flyer of America secured a contract from the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) in California for 50 New Flyer zero-emission buses.
The order consists of 40 Xcelsior CHARGE FC 40-foot hydrogen fuel cell-electric buses and 10 Xcelsior CHARGE NG 40-foot battery-electric buses, NFI said.
NFI said the units were added to its backlog for the fourth quarter of 2024 and are supported by a combination of Federal Transit Administration and local funding.
"OCTA's investment in advanced, high-performance transportation is a win for both Orange County and U.S. bus manufacturing," said Chris Stoddart, president of NFI's North American Bus and Coach. "Our partnership of nearly 35 years reflects New Flyer's ability to deliver reliable, cost-effective and clean transit solutions that support economic growth, job creation, and energy efficiency for communities like Orange County."
NFI's share price closed 1.6% lower on Tuesday to $11.59 on the TSX.
