08:53 AM EST, 02/06/2025 (MT Newswires) -- NFI Group ( NFYEF ) , an independent bus and coach manufacturer and a player in zero-emission electric mass mobility solutions, said Thursday that its subsidiary New Flyer of America signed a "significant" contract to provide up to 500 zero-emission and hybrid buses to the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.
The contract includes orders for 75 Xcelsior hybrid-electric 40-foot transit buses and 25 Xcelsior CHARGE NGTM 35-foot battery-electric buses, and options for up to 400 additional buses.
"This new contract for the latest bus technology embraces healthy contracting measures and is paving the way for long-term benefits for both Metro and New Flyer," said Chris Stoddart, president of North American Bus and Coach at NFI, before adding. "By striking a balance between bonding and payment schedules, it offers flexibility in pricing and delivery timelines to mitigate potential supply chain disruptions or other challenges."
NFI fell 3.5% on Wednesday to $11.04 on the TSX, taking it nearer to a 52 week low of $10.89.
