06:46 AM EDT, 09/04/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Nippon Steel said Thursday it has ended all litigation and disputes with the United Steelworkers union and Cleveland-Cliffs ( CLF ) related to the company's acquisition of US Steel in June.

The settlement includes dismissal of a lawsuit against USW International President David McCall and the withdrawal of an unfair labor practice charge filed with the National Labor Relations Board, Nippon Steel said.

The company said no financial compensation was exchanged as part of the settlement.

Nippon Steel and its subsidiary Nippon Steel North America, US Steel, and Cleveland-Cliffs ( CLF ) also agreed to dismiss all claims in a separate lawsuit involving Cliffs and Cliffs' CEO Lourenco Goncalves.
