Nokia Litigation Win Could Reportedly Knock Amazon Streaming Service Offline in Germany
Feb 7, 2025 9:36 AM

12:03 PM EST, 02/07/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Nokia ( NOK ) prevailed against Amazon.com ( AMZN ) in a German court fight over a patent owned by the Finnish network equipment manufacturer, with the decision possibly knocking Amazon's ( AMZN ) Prime streaming service offline in that country, according to multiple news reports Friday.

A regional court in Dusseldorf ruled that Amazon ( AMZN ) could no longer continue its streaming service in its current form, which was found to infringe Nokia's ( NOK ) patented video technologies, the reports said.

Future violations by Amazon ( AMZN ) could result in a 250,000-euro ($259,000) fine each time, according to Reuters.

Amazon ( AMZN ) and Nokia ( NOK ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
