Norfolk Southern Endorses Policy Recommendations From National Transportation Safety Board

07:23 AM EDT, 07/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Norfolk Southern ( NSC ) said Wednesday that it has endorsed safety policy recommendations by the National Transportation Safety Board as part of the agency's investigation of the company's 2023 East Palestine, Ohio derailment.

The company said that the recommendations align with safety initiatives currently underway at the railroad including improving rail defect detection systems, modernizing nationwide tank car fleets, and getting real-time rail safety information to emergency responders.
