06:03 AM EDT, 08/21/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Northland Power ( NPIFF ) late on Tuesday confirmed there had been a carbon dioxide leak at the Hai Long Changhua onshore substation, part of its offshore wind project in Taiwan, that affected 17 on-site workers.

The leak stemmed from a fire suppression system at the substation. Emergency services were immediately notified and first aid measures administered on-site. The affected workers were transported to hospitals to receive emergency treatment.

The project team is working with local authorities to investigate the cause of the incident and ensure personnel and community safety, the company said.
