10:50 AM EDT, 06/24/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) launched its weight loss drug Wegovy in India on Tuesday, multiple news outlets reported, citing the company's India Managing Director Vikrant Shrotriya.

Wegovy, or semaglutide, is expected to be available in pharmacies by the end of the month in five dosing strengths, with the 0.25 milligrams, 0.5 mg and 1 mg versions priced at 4,336.25 Indian rupees ($50.71), Shrotriya reportedly said.

The launch followed months after Eli Lilly ( LLY ) started marketing its rival drug Mounjaro in India.

Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) and Eli Lilly ( LLY ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
