05:22 AM EDT, 09/10/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) said Wednesday that it plans to reduce its global workforce by about 9,000, with roughly 5,000 layoffs expected in Denmark, as part of a company-wide transformation to simplify its organization.
The company said it will start the implementation immediately and expects to communicate with affected employees over the next few months.
The job cuts are expected to result in total annualized savings of about 8 billion Danish kroner ($1.25 billion) by the end of 2026, the company said.
Novo Nordisk ( NVO ) plans to redirect these savings to growth opportunities in diabetes and obesity.
The transformation is estimated to lead to net one-off restructuring costs of 8 billion kroner, including impairment charges, the company said.
