12:55 PM EDT, 08/08/2024 (MT Newswires) -- NRG Energy ( NRG ) has agreed to sell its Airtron Heating & Air Conditioning business to New York-based investment firm Gamut Capital Management, according to a statement Thursday.

Airtron is a provider of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in Texas, the Midwest, and Mid-Atlantic regions, and came under the ownership of NRG Energy ( NRG ) following the company's 2021 acquisition of Direct Energy.

NRG Energy ( NRG ) said Thursday that it agreed to sell the unit for $500 million, subject to standard purchase price adjustments.

NRG shares were nearly 6% higher in recent trading.
