Nucor Emissions Targets Certified by Global Steel Climate Council

10:25 AM EST, 01/16/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Nucor ( NUE ) said Thursday that the Global Steel Climate Council has certified the company's science-based emissions targets.

The steel product manufacturer said it aims to cut emissions to 0.975 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, or CO2e, per metric ton of hot-rolled steel by 2030, with 2023 as the baseline.

Nucor ( NUE ) plans to meet its goals by increasing clean electricity use, implementing carbon capture and sequestration, adopting near-zero greenhouse gas iron-making, and reducing injection and charge carbon, and natural gas consumption in production.

Shares of Nucor ( NUE ) were up 0.2% in recent Thursday trading.
