05:34 PM EDT, 05/29/2025 (MT Newswires) -- NuScale Power ( SMR ) received US Nuclear Regulatory Commission approval for its enhanced small modular reactor design, which now has a thermal output of 250 megawatts and an electrical output of 77 megawatts.

The approved upgrade increases electrical output from the previous 50 MW version, expanding potential energy supply capabilities, the company said Thursday in a statement.

NuScale shares fell 2.2% in after-hours trading.
