Nutrien to Begin Controlled Shutdown at Trinidad Nitrogen Facility
Oct 21, 2025 6:42 AM

09:30 AM EDT, 10/21/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Nutrien ( NTR ) said Tuesday it will begin a controlled shutdown of its nitrogen operations at the Point Lisas facility in Trinidad and Tobago, effective Thursday.

The company said the decision follows port access restrictions by Trinidad and Tobago's National Energy and constrained natural gas supply that has reduced cash flow from the site.

Nutrien ( NTR ) is in discussions with stakeholders and reviewing options for its Trinidad operations, which produce about 85,000 metric tons of ammonia and 55,000 tons of urea monthly, the company said.

Nutrien ( NTR ) said it expects its 2025 nitrogen sales volumes to remain within the previously stated range of 10.7 million to 11.2 million tons, supported by continued "strong" output from its North American nitrogen operations.
