08:09 AM EDT, 08/11/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Nvidia's ( NVDA ) H20 chips pose a security threat to China, a social media account affiliated with Chinese state media said Sunday, weeks after the Chinese government raised concerns about alleged backdoor access risks, several media outlets reported.
The H20 chips are not technologically advanced or environmentally friendly, said Yuyuan Tantian, an account affiliated with Chinese state broadcaster CCTV, according to a Reuters report.
The article by Yuyuan Tantian alleged that Nvidia's ( NVDA ) chips could enable a "remote shutdown" through a hardware "backdoor," the Reuters report said.
The report added that Nvidia ( NVDA ) was summoned by China's cyberspace watchdog on July 31 to inquire if the company's H20 chips created backdoor security risks.
In a statement emailed to MT Newswires, Nvidia ( NVDA ) said, "cybersecurity is critically important to us. Nvidia ( NVDA ) does not have 'backdoors' in our chips that would give anyone a remote way to access or control them."
