Nvidia Launches Earth-2 Family of Open Models to Support Weather Forecasting

09:58 AM EST, 01/26/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Nvidia ( NVDA ) said Monday it has launched the Earth-2 family of open models, offering a fully open-sourced weather and climate-related artificial intelligence software stack.

The new technologies are aimed at expediting all stages of weather forecasting that includes processing preliminary observation data to generating 15-day global forecasts or local storm predictions, the company said.

The Earth-2 also integrates open models from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts, Microsoft (MSFT), Alphabet's Google (GOOG, GOOGL), Nvidia ( NVDA ) said, adding that they can be trained using Nvidia PhysicsNeMo open-source Python framework.
