NYC law on sharing food delivery customers' data is unconstitutional, judge rules
Sep 29, 2024 11:36 AM

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A federal judge on Tuesday declared unconstitutional a New York City law requiring food delivery companies to share customer data with restaurants, saying the requirement violates the companies' First Amendment rights.

U.S. District Judge Analisa Torres in Manhattan ruled in favor of DoorDash ( DASH ), Grubhub and Uber Eats, which opposed the law.

New York City had adopted the law in 2021, but agreed not to enforce it while the lawsuit was pending.
