Oberoi Realty sources claim reports of Vikas Oberoi being charged with Road Homicide in Italy incorrect

Oberoi Realty sources confirmed to CNBC-TV18 on Thursday (October 5) that reports of Mumbai-based property magnate Vikas Oberoi being charged with 'road homicide' is incorrect. "No charges have been filed against Vikas Oberoi," sources said.

Vikas Oberoi and his wife, actress Gayatri Joshi, who made her Bollywood debut with Shah Rukh Khan's Swades, were involved in a car accident in Italy. Both survived, but two other people were killed in the accident.

Footage of the crash that has emerged online shows that Oberoi’s blue Lamborghini crashed into a camper van on the road.

Vikas Oberoi, the chairman and managing director of Oberoi Realty Ltd, is known for its high-end suburban condominiums. Apart from property, Oberoi also invests in housing, corporate, hospitality and retail. Forbes estimates his net worth to be $3.8 billion.

Shares of Oberoi Realty were trading 2.56 percent lower at Rs 1,092.45 apiece on the NSE during Thursday's afternoon deals.
