05:58 PM EST, 12/03/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Old Dominion Freight Line ( ODFL ) reported late Tuesday its November less-than-truckload revenue per day dropped 8.2% compared with a year earlier due to an 8% drop in less-than-truckload tons per day and a slight decrease in LTL revenue per hundredweight.
The less-than-truckload revenue per hundredweight fell 1.2% quarter-to-date compared with a year ago. But, LTL revenue per hundredweight, excluding fuel surcharges, increased 3.7% from a year earlier.
The results "reflect the continued softness in the domestic economy, as well as the impact of lower fuel surcharge revenue on our yields," Chief Executive Marty Freeman said. The improvement in revenue per hundredweight, excluding fuel surcharges, "demonstrates our continued commitment to yield management," he added.
Shares of the company slipped 1.1% in after-hours activity.
