OnePlus 7 won't support 5G, Company to launch separate 5G phone next year
Nov 13, 2018 10:31 AM

Premium smartphone maker OnePlus' newly-launched 6T is getting rave reviews. The phone was launched last month in a special event in New York. OnePlus fans are already waiting for the next edition of the phone as it was expected to have 5G.

Much to the disappointment of its fans, the company said the successor of OnePlus 6T (likely to be called OnePlus 7) won't have 5G facility to keep the costing competitive, reported CNET. But the company confirmed that it will keep its promise of a 5G phone by launching a separate series early 2019.

Last month at the launch event of OnePlus 6T, Pete Lau, CEO, said the OnePlus 5G-capable smartphone will debut in the first half of next year.

The company wants to keep its OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 7T as its main devices, and will not have 5G enabled as it will increase the price by a significant margin, the report said. This also means that in 2019, OnePlus will launch three phones and not just two as the last three years.
