Only one percent of users pay for music in India, says Spotify's Amarjit Singh Batra
Mar 21, 2019 7:44 AM

The much awaited and highly popular Swedish music streaming application, Spotify has finally launched its services in India.

India is a highly competitive market and already has well-entrenched players such as JioSaavn, Gaana, Hungama and Wynk. While international platforms like Apple Music, Amazon Music and Google are trying their luck in the Indian market, YouTube continues to be the big daddy of music streaming in the country.

The job for Spotify is clear -- grow the market and get people to pay.

CNBC-TV18’s Reema Tendulkar spoke to Amarjit Singh Batra, MD, Spotify India, about the company’s plans going forward.
