09:42 AM EDT, 07/22/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Onsemi (ON) said Monday it has been selected to supply the Volkswagen Group with power boxes for the automaker's next-generation traction inverter used with its scalable systems platform under a multi-year contract between the companies.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

According to the companies, the power box developed by onsemi uses silicon carbide-based technologies in an integrated module able to scale across all power levels.

Onsemi also said it will expand its silicon carbide manufacturing in the Czech Republic, creating an end-to-end production facility in Europe for the traction inverter power system for Volkswagen.

Onsemi shares added 3.9% in early trading Monday.
