06:09 PM EDT, 05/15/2025 (MT Newswires) -- OPAL Fuels ( OPAL ) plans to build a biogas-to-renewable natural gas facility at Republic Services' ( RSG ) Charlotte Motor Speedway Landfill in Concord, North Carolina, in a joint venture with the waste-management company's affiliate.

The facility is expected to have an initial annual design capacity of 1.4 million MMBtu, OPAL said Thursday in a statement.

This project involves converting an existing OPAL-owned renewable electricity facility at the site, and the venture has secured a new long-term gas rights agreement for the plant

OPAL shares rose 7.2% in after-hours trading, and Republic Services ( RSG ) fell 0.4%.
