07:17 AM EDT, 06/26/2024 (MT Newswires) -- OpenAI is postponing the launch of its highly anticipated ChatGPT voice assistant mode, the company said late Tuesday.
The company posted on social media X that it initially intended to roll out the voice feature to a small group of paid ChatGPT Plus subscribers in late June but needs one more month to reach 'bar to launch'.
"We're improving the model's ability to detect and refuse certain content", the company said, adding, "We're also working on improving the user experience and preparing our infrastructure to scale to millions while maintaining real-time responses."
OpenAI will start the alpha phase with a small group of users to gather feedback and expand gradually, aiming to provide access to all Plus users by fall.
The company added that it is also working on rolling out the new video and screen-sharing capabilities demonstrated during its May event and will provide updates on that timeline.
