Optiva Launches Agentic AI for Telecom BSS Platform
Feb 12, 2025 5:36 AM

08:11 AM EST, 02/12/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Optiva ( RKNEF ) said Wednesday that its BSS platform and charging engine now incorporate agentic AI using advanced generative AI technology powered by Google's Gemini models.

The company, which provides the telecom industry with cloud-native software on private and public clouds, said agentic AI has "agency" compared to chatbots, with the ability to act autonomously and independently, adapt, complete complex tasks, make decisions and proactively achieve objectives.

The BSS platform will allow communication service providers to achieve measurably improved outcomes by enhancing operational efficiency, cost savings, customer experience and business productivity, Optiva ( RKNEF ) said.

By leveraging Google's Gemini models, Optiva ( RKNEF ) said these AI agents enhance natural language understanding, proactive customer engagement and intelligent automation, reducing expenses and accelerating time to market.

"Integrating agentic AI into Optiva's ( RKNEF ) BSS solutions marks a pivotal step forward in the telecom industry," said Chrisaman Sood, AI Product Strategist at Optiva ( RKNEF ).

"We are not simply developing AI agents to streamline operations and improve customer experiences - we are establishing the foundation for a future where these agents can work together seamlessly. This will create an intelligent, interconnected ecosystem that drives exponential value for telcos of the future," Sood added.

The company's share price soared 14% on Tuesday to $5.95 on the TSX.
