12:39 PM EDT, 09/17/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Oracle (ORCL) said Tuesday it released Java 23, the newest version of the company's programming language and development platform.

Java 23 provides 12 Java Development Kit Enhancement Proposals that are designed to help developers boost productivity by improving the Java language, Oracle said.

The new features and tools of the Java platform are intended to help "drive increased business growth" by enhancing performance, stability and security, the company said.

Oracle shares were down 1.9% in recent Tuesday trading.
