Origin Agritech Receives Capital Boost From CEO, Institutional Investors; Shares Rise

08:36 AM EDT, 09/30/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Origin Agritech ( SEED ) said Tuesday that its chief executive, Weibin Yan, has entered into a securities purchase agreement to acquire 2 million shares in the company at $1.20 per share for $2.4 million.

Origin also said it modified an August 2024 securities purchase deal with institutional investors to merge the remaining tranches into a single closing at $1.20 per share, resulting in $1.48 million in funding, the company said.

Proceeds will support research and development, market expansion and distribution in China's agricultural biotechnology sector, the company said.

Origin Agritech ( SEED ) shares were up 11% in premarket trading.
