09:05 AM EST, 11/10/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Origin Agritech ( SEED ) said Monday it entered into a patent license agreement with Chinese biotech firm Shandong Shunfeng Biotechnology to gain long-term access to the Cas-SF01 gene editing tool.

The agreement will help facilitate biosafety approval for Origin's current and future gene editing transformants in corn breeding, the company said.

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Origin said it estimates to receive final biosafety certification for its edited lines in one to two years due to regulatory procedures and experimental timelines.
