05:02 AM EDT, 04/10/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Orion (OEC) said late Tuesday it broke ground on a plant in Texas to produce acetylene-based conductive additives for lithium-ion batteries and other applications targeting a global shift to electrification.
The company said equipment procurement and off-site fabrication for the LaPorte project have progressed to an advanced stage. Field construction activities are ramping up, with the facility start-up expected in Q2 next year.
Conductive additives enable a "more efficient flow of electricity and extend the lifetime of lithium-ion batteries," the company said.
