11:22 AM EST, 11/29/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Orix ( IX ) said Friday that the Kinokawa Energy Storage Plant in Kinokawa, Japan, will begin commercial operations on Sunday.
The plant, developed in partnership with Kansai Electric Power, features 64 lithium-ion storage battery containers with a rated output of 48 megawatts and a capacity of 113 megawatt-hour.
Kinokawa Energy Storage, a joint venture between Orix ( IX ) and Kansai Electric Power, will oversee operations, with KEPCO's E-Flow managing battery operations and market transactions, and Orix Renewable Energy Management will handle maintenance and operational duties, the company said.
Shares of Orix ( IX ) were up 4.1% in recent Friday trading.
