Paramount Skydance, Warner Bros. Merger Opposed by Writers Guild of America
Oct 24, 2025 5:25 AM

07:59 AM EDT, 10/24/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Paramount Skydance ( PSKY ) and Warner Bros. Discovery's ( WBD ) proposed merger is being opposed by the Writers Guild of America, a trade syndicate representing screenwriters and newsroom staffers, news outlets reported Thursday, citing a statement.

"Merger after merger in the media industry has harmed workers, diminished competition and free speech, and wasted hundreds of billions of dollars better invested in organic growth," the guild said in the statement, according to Bloomberg.

The guild said it would pressure regulators to oppose any proposed merger between US media giants, describing the deals as "a disaster for writers, for consumers, and for competition."

Paramount Skydance ( PSKY ), Warner Bros., and the Writers Guild did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
