PDD's Temu Gets EU Commission Request for Information on Measures Taken to Prevent Illegal Products Sales

08:15 AM EDT, 10/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- PDD Holdings' ( PDD ) shopping website Temu received a request Friday from the European Commission for information on actions taken against the presence and reappearance of traders selling illegal products on its online marketplace.

The Commission also said it is seeking details about Temu's recommender systems and the potential risks to user data protection.

Temu must submit this information by Oct. 21, after which the Commission will assess the responses and decide on the next steps, according to a statement from the EU's executive body.

PDD did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
