PepsiCo to Close Four US Plants, Reportedly Cut 400 Workers

03:43 PM EDT, 10/30/2024 (MT Newswires) -- PepsiCo ( PEP ) plans to close four bottling plants in the US, and the Associated Press reported about 400 jobs will be cut, citing the company.

"We have stopped production operations in four locations," including Chicago, a company spokesperson said in an email to MT Newswires. In Cincinnati, Atlanta and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, "we will continue to operate a warehouse to serve our local customers and communities," the spokesperson said.

The plant in Chicago will shut completely, the AP said.

The closures will affect 136 workers in Cincinnati, 131 in Chicago, 127 in Harrisburg and fewer than 50 in Atlanta, the AP said.

In compliance with federal law, "employees were notified, will continue to be paid and receive benefits as set forth in the collective bargaining agreement for 60 days from this notice," the PepsiCo ( PEP ) spokesperson said in the email.

Shares of the company fell 0.8% in recent trading Wednesday.
