07:42 AM EST, 01/27/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Perpetua Resources ( PPTA ) on Monday welcomed Idaho's Strategic Permitting, Efficiency and Economic Development (SPEED) Act, which aims to reduce permitting delays for projects that promote energy independence, national security and economic growth.
Perpetua said the measure would boost its Stibnite gold project, which is located in Idaho.
"The SPEED Act aligns perfectly with Perpetua's vision to restore an abandoned mine site and responsibly develop domestic mineral resources for a more secure future," said Jon Cherry, Perpetua's president and CEO.
Perpetua said Stibnite could meet up to 35% of U.S. antimony demand in its initial six years of production, reducing reliance on foreign suppliers.
"With enhanced coordination and reduced inefficiencies, Idaho projects like the Stibnite gold project can better deliver the critical minerals our nation needs while safeguarding the environment," said Mark Compton, executive director of the American Exploration & Mining Association.
Perpetua's share price rose 2.1% last Friday to $18.13 on the TSX.
