12:36 PM EDT, 03/19/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Perrigo ( PRGO ) shares were up 1% on Tuesday, after Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers directed the state's Department of Health Services to make Opill, an over-the-counter oral contraceptive, available for free to members of the state's Medicaid program.

Opill will be available at Wisconsin pharmacies starting today without a prescription and at no cost, Evers said in a statement.

The company said on March 4 that it started shipping Opill to major retailers and pharmacies and the contraception pill will be available nationwide later in the month.
