12:48 PM EDT, 10/20/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Petroleo Brasileiro (PBR) said Monday it has received an environmental license from the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources to drill an exploratory well in deep waters off Amapa.

The block FZA-M-059 is located about 500 kilometers from the mouth of the Amazon River, the company said.

The drill rig is already in position, and operations are set to begin immediately for about five months, the company said.
