03:53 AM EDT, 08/14/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Pfizer ( PFE ) and Valneva (VALN) reported Friday that the European Medicines Agency has validated a marketing authorization application for their Lyme-disease vaccine candidate, and the agency will begin its assessment of the vaccine.
The Lyme-disease vaccine application is based on efficacy of more than 70% observed in a phase 3 trial, said the drug companies. The vaccine was well tolerated in the trial, with no safety concerns identified.
Lyme disease is transmitted to humans through tick bites, and there is no vaccine on the market, said Pfizer ( PFE ) and Valneva.
