Philip Morris International Affiliate Receives Subpoena Over Sales of Flavored Nicotine Patches in District of Columbia
Jun 18, 2024 4:23 AM

07:08 AM EDT, 06/18/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Philip Morris International's ( PM ) Swedish Match North America affiliate received a subpoena from the Attorney General of the District of Columbia, requesting information over its compliance with the district's ban on the sale of flavored products, Philip Morris ( PM ) said Monday.

According to the company, the subpoena relates to the sale of ZYN nicotine pouches and the affiliate plans to comply with the information request. Philip Morris ( PM ) said its preliminary investigation showed that flavored nicotine pouch products continued to be sold in the District of Columbia, mainly via online sales platforms and some independent retailers. The matter could lead to "a material liability," the company added.

Philip Morris ( PM ) said Swedish Match North America is working to suspend online sales on ZYN.com immediately and is reviewing sales and supply chain arrangements in areas where flavor bans are implemented.
